ENGL 2002A - Professional Writing for Successful Communication (5 cr.) Clear and persuasive writing is a fundamental professional skill. In this course, students learn the basic tenets of written communication in a professional setting, including the importance of understanding audience and the purpose of the communication, as well as choices of modality, timing, and idiom. Students examine examples of professional communication, such as business letters, résumés, briefing memos, newsletters, and proposals and requests for proposals, among others. Applying course concepts, students also engage in a range of applied assignments that reinforce fundamental writing skills, such as grammar and sentence structure, punctuation, style, citation, and word choice.
