As part of Office of Academic Affairs, Academic Residencies plans, coordinates, and delivers academic events and experiences for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, which inlcude academic residencies, labs, and intensives.
Academic residencies, labs, and intensives are face-to-face or synchronous virtual learning experiences held throughout the year for students to meet with college faculty, administrators, and representatives from the Office of Academic Support (Writing Center, Career Planning and Development), Walden Library, Office of Research and Doctoral Services, and student success advisors and other student support staff. They provide a foundation on which students can progress through the process of completing the degree by developing scholarly research and professional skills that reflect the university’s mission of positive social change.
The following core goals guide the student experience during required residencies and labs:
- Socialization into degree program expectations and the professional community
- Development of graduate research skills
- Promotion of scholarship and professional skills
- Discussion of the role that scholarly research and professional skills can play in the university’s mission of positive social change
See Residency/Lab Requirements and the Walden Residencies website and required timing.
